Alex sees his first Rodeo Parade

When our children were little, my friend Marcie and I always made it a tradition to take our children to the Rodeo Parade in downtown Homestead. Every year we would sit in the same spot and our children really enjoyed it. As time went on, we would often sit on the curb and watch our own children march by in baton groups or band or school groups. Eventually we all ended up in the parade with girl scouts or band or other organizations.

Now that my children are grown up, I have not attended the parade for several years. This year, my daughter Debi informed me that I had to continue tradition and attend the parade with her husband and my grandson Alex. I am happy to report that Alex had a wonderful time and so did I. The only thing he did not like was the nosiy fire truck! Alex was a hit with the ladies and a lot of candy was thrown at him.

The Black and Blue of it All
Two weeks ago my husband, Elias, has surgery for a ruptured vein in his leg. This is his leg one and a half weeks later. The doctor cut into his groin and tied off the vein. He then cut into his leg near his ankle and pulled the vein out. This is his leg healing. The bruising is very prominent and he has some pain but is recovering and should be back to normal soon.

Alex Celebrates New Years and Food!

Alex is growing like a weed. He has started eating cereal and fruits now. He has a new chair and loves to sit and watch TV in it. Go to the link here for more picture.

New Year's Celebration - welcome 2008

The new year was brought in at the home of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Maria Elena. We had great food, family and friends. The neighborhood was filled with fireworks and of course, we ended the night with the typical Colombian tradition of burning a dummy stuffed with fireworks....don't is supposed to get rid of the bad spirits from the previous year. Yeah...crazy but neat!

Christmas 2007 = Alex's First Christmas

What a wonderful day! Our daughter, Debi, her husband Eddy, their son, Alex, our son, Danny, his girlfriend, Amanda and her mom, Leann all spent the night at our home. It was wonderful to have a baby in the house for the holiday!

We started out Christmas Eve by visiting the home of Herb and Patty Pierson for a little get together. We had a great time and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Christmas morning Danny woke early to care for Alex so that Debi and Eddy could sleep. I woke up around 6 a.m. and took over. Family and friends came later in the day for dinner.
